What ART you waiting for?

Why You Should Hang the Art Now
When I walk into a new client’s home for a professional organizing session, one thing I notice over and over again is… blank walls. No art. No framed treasures. Just empty space.
But when I ask about it, the answer is always the same:
“Oh, I love art! I actually have a ton of it—I just haven’t gotten around to hanging it yet. I want to wait until everything is decluttered and organized first.”
At first glance, that might sound logical—get your home in order, then add the finishing touches. But here's the truth: that approach might be making things harder, not easier.
Let me explain.
The Inside vs. Outside Process
Organizing isn’t just about stuff—it’s about psychology. There’s an inside process (your emotional and mental state) and an outside process (how your home looks and functions). Most people try to muscle through the clutter first, hoping that once the outside is "fixed," they’ll finally feel motivated or clear-headed inside.
But here’s the counterintuitive truth: your environment affects your mindset right now—even in its messy state. When your walls are bare, your space can feel cold, chaotic, or uninspiring. And that drabness can drain your motivation and stall your progress.
Now imagine you walk into your living room, and instead of a blank wall, you see that print you adore, framed beautifully. You see color. You see personality. You feel a spark. That’s not just decoration—it’s momentum.
Hang the Art First
I often say, "Don’t wait until your space is perfect to bring beauty into it!" If you have nothing on your walls, hang the art now. Surround yourself with things you love. That joy? That visual stimulation? That’s fuel for the rest of your journey.
Part of my organizing work includes art conservation and creative display. Because design isn't just about tidiness—it’s about transformation.
One of my favorite projects was helping a client frame a bold Peter Max print. It wasn’t a rare piece, and it wasn’t signed. But in a vintage black-and-gold frame, it absolutely sang. It turned a blank corner of her bedroom into a dazzling focal point. Who cares if your art is not a high-dollar piece? If you love it, it deserves the spotlight.
In another project, I hung framed artwork and a pocket shelf next to my client’s favorite embroidery chair. The moment it went up, her whole posture changed. That corner became her sanctuary. Her creativity had a place to land.
Stop Waiting. Start Living.
So let me ask you: have you hung your art yet, or are you waiting until everything is “just right”?
When I work with my clients on their art and collections, we hang art at different times in our journey. Hanging art perfectly can have multiple steps requiring focus, decisions and prep. However, when you are not working with a professional, it’s more important not to sweat the small details you can fix later. Your mental outlook is actually the real priority. You can always use temporary supplies like removable strips until you're ready to hang the art properly.
You don’t need a perfect home to start feeling proud of it. And you don’t have to do it alone. I help clients prioritize what matters most—emotionally and functionally— so we can create spaces that truly support them.
Let’s make your home feel like yours—starting with the art.
